Head Start Spring Reading Festival which the theme I Love to Read
Early Education and Care kicked at this morning off their “Head Start Spring Reading Festival” which the theme “I Love to Read.”
Local Head Start centers and child care facilities, about 150 children of the Springfield Community Center were transport and be exposed to the joy of books.
And several community volunteers read stories to children described their career.
EEC Executive Director Dr. Pam Fleege said, “The goal is to share the importance of reading and also to show adult role models as leaders, because for a lot of children, they don’t see adults reading as frequently as we would like them to see”.
But the excitement of the fear under which Head Start programs suffer major cuts if the House will approve the Republican budget plan.
Local officials are quite concerned.
Fleege said, “It could translate into loss of slots for children. It could translate into loss of positions. It could be jobs. So, it could translate into all kinds of things. It would just be dependent upon what they decide to cut”
